Deleting a Project

Who this is for:FreeBasicProOrganization

Sometimes a project has run its course — a temporary holiday exhibit has closed, a digital signage campaign has ended, or you're clearing out sandbox projects you no longer need. Zibit makes it straightforward to remove projects from your dashboard, and it includes a built-in safeguard that prevents accidental deletion by asking you to confirm the project's name before anything is removed. This tutorial walks you through the full deletion process so you can clean up your workspace with confidence.

Opening the Project Actions Menu

From the My Projects dashboard, every project card has a small actions menu that gives you quick access to project-level options — including deleting a project you no longer need.

To open it, hover over the project card you want to manage and click the "Project actions" button (the three-dot menu icon) in the card's corner. You'll see this for any project you own, such as "Delete Demo" in this example.

Deleting a Project Safely

To delete a project, open the overflow menu on any project card by clicking the "Project actions" button (the three-dot icon). Select "Delete project" from the menu, and a confirmation dialog will appear. To prevent accidental deletions, Zibit asks you to type the project's exact name before the delete option becomes available.

This safeguard is especially useful in shared workspaces — for example, if your team has been building a museum kiosk experience, you won't accidentally remove it with a single click. Once you type the name and confirm, the project and all its moments, flows, and components are permanently removed and cannot be recovered.

Confirming Project Deletion

To protect your work, Zibit asks you to confirm deletion by typing the project's name exactly as it appears. In this case, type Delete Demo into the field labeled "Type the project name to confirm:" — the delete button won't activate until the name matches perfectly.

This action is permanent and cannot be undone, so the extra step is there to make sure it's intentional. If you've changed your mind, just close the dialog — your project stays exactly as it was.

Confirm the Project Name to Delete

To protect your work, Zibit requires you to type the project's name exactly before deletion is allowed. In the "Delete 'Delete Demo'?" dialog, find the field labelled "Type the project name to confirm:" and type the project name character-for-character — including any spaces or punctuation.

Once what you've typed matches the project name exactly, the "Delete project" button becomes active and you can click it to permanently remove the project. If you're not sure, you can close the dialog at any time — nothing is deleted until you confirm.

Project Deleted from the Dashboard

Once you confirm the deletion, Zibit removes the project immediately and you're returned to your My Projects dashboard. The deleted project no longer appears in your list — it's gone for good, so make sure you've confirmed with your team before deleting anything tied to a live exhibit or installation.

All your remaining projects are still right where you left them. From here, you can open any existing project or click "Create new project" to start something fresh.

Your project has been permanently removed and your dashboard is back to showing only the work that matters. Before you go, here are a few things worth keeping in mind as you manage your Zibit workspace:

  • Archive instead of delete — If you think you might revisit a project later, check whether archiving is a better fit than permanent deletion. Archived projects stay accessible without cluttering your active dashboard.
  • Duplicate before you delete — If the project contains moments, flows, or style sets you want to reuse, make a duplicate first and use it as a starting point for your next experience.
  • Organize with naming conventions — Clear, consistent project names make the typed-confirmation step faster and reduce the risk of deleting the wrong project.
  • Review shared displays — Before deleting, confirm that no active displays or devices are still pointing to the project, especially in live museum or signage environments.
  • Start a new project — Ready to build something fresh? Head back to your My Projects dashboard and click "Create project" to get started.
