Let Visitors Zoom into an Image
Some pictures are worth a closer look — a map, a manuscript, a textile. Allow zoom on an Image lets visitors zoom with buttons, scroll, or a pinch, then drag to pan. Hotspots and highlights on that image stay on the same spot while the picture moves. You will turn zoom on and set the limit.
Zoom gestures are off while you are editing, so selecting and dragging the component still works. Check the zoom in preview.
Open the view and add an image
Place an Image if the view does not already have one, and give it a file large enough that zooming reveals something.
Turn on Allow zoom
In Details, turn on Allow zoom. Max zoom is how far they can go, from 1.5x to 10x. A setting around 6x is enough for a label that should be readable up close without letting the picture become a single pixel.
The zoom buttons appear on the image in preview and on the player, inline and in full screen. Zoom in steps up to the maximum and then stops. Reset brings the picture back to the fitted size. A drag that pans the picture does not also fire the image's click action.
Scrolling pages
With zoom on, a one-finger drag on the image pans the picture instead of scrolling the page. That is the right trade for a kiosk. On a long scrolling page, put the image where that behavior will not surprise anyone.
Open preview, press zoom in, drag to pan, and press reset. If a hotspot sits on the image, it should stay on the detail you marked.
